Where Have All the Bloggers Gone?

It occurs to me: the deadline for my ACCUTE CFP has now passed and I have received a grand total of ... zero ... submissions. Hmmm. I have a theory expressible through the sophistication of a homemade Venn Diagram. Let RM=yours truly and MJ=Scribbing Woman and here's what I think the situation is:

I think a lot of potential lit crit bloggers in ACCUTE are writing under psuedonyms and perhaps aren't ready yet for a conference about how blogging can function in the academy. Maybe in a year or two. Still, I hope you give a talk about this anyway to open up some discussion.

That's an interesting hypothesis, smith. I admit, I hadn't thought about pseudonymity as a wrinkle here. I don't think there's going to be an officially organized even to discuss academic blogging, given the collapse of this potential panel. I had already submitted a paper to the 'open call' and of course the deadlines are all now passed. But perhaps some kind of coffee house event might be arranged. If my proposal is accepted and thus I do end up going to ACCUTE, I'd be willing to try to set something up. Of course, just showing up puts a crack in those pseudonyms...
